Corporate Social Responsibility - Trade Aid

Trade Aid is a small UK charity, supported by Corintech. It was established in 1996 operating in Mikindani, Southern Tanzania. Its aim is to create sustainable employment through the teaching of English and vocational skills, and by providing opportunities for work and encouraging enterprise in the local area.

Visit The Old Boma Hotel

Offering first-class accommodation, the Old Boma Hotel is run by Trade Aid UK, helping create a sustainable tourist industry in the Southern Tanzanian area of Mikindani.

The Old Boma Hotel in southern Tanzania is a national monument that was originally a German fort built in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. It has been beautifully and sensitively restored into a comfortable hotel with up to date facilities, including restaurant, pool and spa, whilst retaining many original features and charm.

The charity's objective is not only to preserve the town's important heritage and encourage tourism in the area, but also to provide hospitality training and jobs for community members at the Old Boma Hotel.

The activities of Trade Aid in Tanzania revolve around three key areas:

The Old Boma Hotel is not only a restored historic building which attracts tourism and business to the area; Trade Aid also runs it as a training hotel. This means that local staff have the opportunity to learn valuable skills related to the hospitality industry.
