The award recognises Corintech’s sponsorship and support for community events such as the annual Fordingbridge Festival.
The Hon. Ralph Montagu, accompanied by Counsellor Woodhall of Hampshire County Council, presented the award to Geoff Allen, Chairman of Corintech. Also present at the award ceremony was Corintech's marketing assistant John Hart.
The citation for Corintech’s award entry, available on the NFBP website, is reproduced in part below:
‘A key aspect of the business is a strong desire to re-invest into the community in which they’re located. This is shown in different types of community support and has demonstrated that while the commercial success of the company is vital, making a contribution to support local people and the local community spirit is also high on their day-to-day agenda.’
‘This business has been a major employee in Fordingbridge for many years and has contributed staff time and effort, as well as financial resources, to sponsor and organise community events and activities.
These include contributions to local firework displays and football clubs as well as the very successful resurrection of the Fordingbridge Festival following a break of over ten years. Through its open days, the company has also enabled the local community to learn about the history of Ashford Mill, and help give a better understanding of the town’s industrial heritage. The community spirit of this company extends further afield than Fordingbridge - to Africa in fact. Company owner Brian Currie and members of his staff have been working to improve the lives of people in remote villages of Tanzania by encouraging them to develop products to sell to a wider market place, thereby offering a long-term sustainable solution to poverty.
